The 2022 Top 16 tourneys are a wrap. Congrats to the first two champs in nearly three years of no league play, both crowned this week on consecutive nights.
Tuesday Night, Fast Eddie's, B Division. Bradley A (14) landed in the finals flawless after a series of upsets, whitewashing the 1, 2 & 3 seeds along the way. Johnny (1) battled back from the loser bracket for the rematch in a final that went the distance. Bradley won the first leg before Johnny tagged him with his first pair of losses on the night to force the leg 4 decider. The epic battle came to a close with Bradley outlasting Johnny in the final leg to claim the title. Congrats to both on a stellar showing. Honorable mention to Richard (6) who fought back from a first round loss with a string of victories to finish 3rd. Kudos to the entire B division for showing as players and spectators to support. And to Ken, presidente, thanks for running the event!
Wednesday night, Callahan's Pub, A Division. Darin (2) and Geof (10) survived a SUPER stacked bracket to face off for the title in a final that also went the distance. After navigating the winner's bracket, Geof hammered home a 3.7mpr leg of cricket to open the final to all but seal the deal. Darin rallied to win the next 3 legs however, throwing the only 8T0 of the night along the way, edging out the 10 seed in 4 to snatch the title. Congrats to both for a superb final that represented the tough play throughout the night. Honorable mention to Joe Terra (24), lowest ranked alternate that snuck into the event, who stunned onlookers and opponents with 9gram darts and a 3rd place finish after sending Lance (1) packing in 4th. Great job by all, and thanks to all players who turned out to watch and compete. Big shout out to Rick, A leage rep, for running the event!
A final thanks to all alternates who kept the action rolling by filling any absenses in the brackets. And, a special thanks to Fast Eddies and Callahans for hosting, and allowing us to set up additional practice boards for the events at each venue. It helped set the stage for two great nights of darts. Thanks to all. Great darts all around, let the good times roll.
